Support victims Haiti

(Updated: 20 January 2010)

The Jewish community in the Netherlands cannot be indifferent to the humanitarian disaster resulting from the earthquake in Haiti. For this reason the Jewish Humanitarian Fund has opened a bank account, dedicated to helping the victims.

All monies donated to this account will be designated to Haiti. The Jewish Humanitarian Fund itself has boosted the effort by donating 10,000 euro.

Although one of the goals of the Fund, which was established in 2002, is to support the victims of conflict situations, in this special case this has been extended to include the victims of this catastrophe.

The Fund intends to use donations as much as possible to support the Israeli rescue teams which are already operating in Haiti. The Israeli team has already made considerable headway. The medical team, consisting of 220 people, has established a field hospital where 500 patients per day can be treated. The hospital includes a pharmacy, children’s and radiology ward, as well as an intensive care unit, two operating theatres, and emergency, surgery, internal and maternity wards. The Israeli humanitarian aid is coordinated with the International Red Cross.

The Jewish Humanitarian Fund urges everyone to help the victims of this disaster. The fund has ANBI status, meaning that gifts are tax-deductable.
